Meditation Tips for Beginners

One should be regular in meditation practice. Meditation takes time to nurture and slowly our energy starts building up for a next level. So when we miss meditation by one day then our energy comes down and it spoils the effort of many days. Few Meditation tips for beginners are:

  1. Be regular in Meditation. Do not skip the meditation session for trivial things. Be sincere and honest with yourself. Give meditation the top priority in your life.

  2. Body needs should be met - One should not neglect the body. Body should be fit and properly taken care of. Some amount of physical activities is good and helps.

  3. Enjoy the meditation and don't make it a serious phenomena. No need to chase any goals or desires through meditation. Let joy be the criteria for meditation. As long as you are enjoying the meditation, it is good.

  4. Its always better to create a Meditation space. When we start meditating on the same place then that place gets charged with our energy and it helps us in going deep in meditation.

  5. Spending time in nature - Spending time in nature like open spaces, big trees, chirping of birds, water bodies like sea, river etc charges our life force with fresh prana and its gives us a break from hectic city life. Meditation is more smooth and spontaneous close to nature. It really helps when we are close to nature.

  6. Vegetarian and Satwic food - Whatsoever we eat becomes a part of it. Food is one of major source of energy for us. Kind of food we are eating determines the energy we are  receiving. Non-vegetarian food carries energy of low consciousness that is animal consciousness. It brings us down. Where as Spicy or any kind of food which makes us excited is also not good. But at the same time its not essential to eat vegetarian food to become a meditator. A non-vegetarian person will have to work extra hard for meditation to transform the energy which he/she receive by eating meat.

  7. Meditation is not about chasing goals - Meditation is not about seeking any goal or occult powers. So one should not expect or make goals in meditation. Its better that we allow meditation to grow at its own pace and enjoy the meditation practice.

  8. Meditation Posture - Correct Meditation posture and Mudra helps in making a pool of energy. One of the best meditation posture is to sit cross legged, with eyes closed and using a mudra. Reason for sitting in a posture and mudra is that it makes the energy flow in a circle and there is no leaking point for the energy.

  9. Be in touch with Spiritual Masters - Meditation books, videos, websites helps a lot in understanding more about meditation. Read what Osho and Jiddu Krishnamurti have said about meditation. Be more in touch with Enlightened Masters discourses rather than watching TV, reading newspaper. Try to avoid TV, Newspaper and mobile phones. Be in the company of like minded people who wants to grow in meditation and awareness.

  10. Live in timeless - Be more creative in work rather than efficient. What ever you do, create some thing, enjoy your work. Do not work to achieve something but try to create soemthing.
